These are excellent working tools! The previous user repaired and modified 4 of these using rawhide. You use what you have to mend or improve your tools. In this case the use of rawhide is quite brilliant. It wraps nicely and when it dries it shrinks and conforms to the shape it wraps. I love these smart fixes. I see it in metal work, woodwork and other places where the skills and materials of the trade make, repair or modify the tools of the trade. We collect the tools, sometimes use them (as I do) and often forget about their  former owners. This group brings that person alive for me. Enjoy!
