his cab is native gold and quartz, a kind just recently acquired. It's indeed a sweet gem and contains one of the most interesting palette of colors I've worked with. Seeing this, GIA might wish to reconsider it's non-precious gemstone classification. After all, it contains precious metal and polishes up wonderfully. I love the hard, smoky quartz accented with brown striations and a dark brownish/black, spider-like figure. Surrounding the high-purity are windows of amber-like quartz. What a stunning effect!
For natural beauty and rarity, this gem is in a league of it's own.

s the operator/sole proprietor of Gold of Eldorado, I actively mined gold for 18 years. Beginning long ago, perhaps in a past life, something in the mystique of this rare, precious, golden metal attracted me to it. Searching for Au (gold) and working with it in it's multitude of forms has become my life-way. However this happened is one of those wonderful mysteries which made my short walk of life here on planet Earth so amazing.
If you are a fan of gold quartz suitable for gemstone applications, please let me know if there are any specific sizes, colors, or cabochon-shapes you might be interested in. I may be able to accommodate you with a custom-made creation.

These will contain visible native gold and/or are composed almost entirely of gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens).

    GOLDEN TREASURES

reasure's where you find it. Depending on what an individual needs, how much gold makes it's way into your poke may not be the truest measure of how rich your life was.
I viewed myself as a fair to middlin' prospector, but came to realize no one is big enough to get it all. There's a lot more than meets the eye to this gold mining business. Through those more active years spent in the goldfields, my own production paled in comparison with what other acquaintances dug up. Gold claims are both fickle and varied in their constitutions. You may hit it rich on one stretch of creek but starve out down around the bend. Many conditions limit how much one person equipped with basic tools can accomplish on a claim. Having access is numero uno in terms of importance. Then, you need authorization and/or an approved plan of operations to mine. Once you're armed with those, carefully consider what tools you're going to need for the job. In fact, best to figure that out first because without a detailed description of your excavation and development plans, good luck getting a POO (plan of operations) or notice-of-intent approved. During my 20 year stint of mining, I learned plenty about placer formations, but it was often impossible to discover how good a property was due to lack of legal access.
