his gem is comprised of native gold and quartz. Don't you think your favorite gold ring deserves a better gem? At this size (14.3X9.6 mm) and shape, it would make a righteous replacement for that old cut glass you've grown weary of. According to my source, back in the 60s, this cab's mother rock was gifted to their folks by a friend. The exchange took place in Oregon at the Prineville Rockhound Pow Wow. Through the years, tons of mineral specimens change hands at rock shows all around the western mining states. I didn't mine the rough this was cut from nor did I see it mined, so it's impossible to say without a doubt where it came from. My source says it's from Arkansas, but since so little gold production occurred in that state, this origin seems unlikely. I do know this. It's lovely stone - like no other California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbian, or South American gold quartz I have seen or worked with. The cab offered here is a very colorful section with a cool pattern in gold. Check out the matrix. I especially like the dense, pale-grey and orange quartz accented with black mineralization. It supposedly came from the Old Spanish Diggings down in the Ozarks. I believe Ontario, Canada is a likelier source; perhaps somewhere near the Red Lake Mine. Wherever it's from, it's a pretty cab and
measures 14.3 mm long, 9.6 mm wide, and 2.7 mm thick. For natural beauty and rarity, this gem is in a league of it's own.

s the operator/sole proprietor of Gold of Eldorado, I actively mined gold for 18 years. Beginning long ago, perhaps in a past life, something in the mystique of this rare, precious, golden metal attracted me to it. Searching for Au (gold) and working with it in it's multitude of forms has become my life-way. However this happened is one of those wonderful mysteries which made my short walk of life here on planet Earth so amazing.
If you are a fan of gold quartz suitable for gemstone applications, please let me know if there are any specific sizes, colors, or cabochon-shapes you might be interested in. I may be able to accommodate you with a custom-made creation.

feedback for disputes arising from non-authenticity of the specimens I sell. All of my advertised specimens, slabs, cabochons, gold ores et al are comprised of naturally-occurring minerals (not man-made). These will contain visible native gold and/or are composed almost entirely of gold (i.e. gold nuggets, gold flakes, wire gold specimens).

GOLDEN TREASURES

reasure's where you find it. Depending on what an individual needs, how much gold falls into your poke may not be the only measure of how rich your life is.
I viewed myself as a fair to middlin' prospector, but after some years of mining, came to realize that no one knows everything or is big enough to get it all. My small production paled in comparison with what other miners I knew were finding. Gold claims can be a tough nut to crack. Depending upon a property's characteristics, a great many prevailing conditions may limit how much one person equipped with basic tools can accomplish. Obviously, having the right tools for the job is vital as is obtaining the authorization needed to legally mine. That really trumps everything else. During my 20 year mining career, I learned plenty about placer formations, but it was often impossible to discover how good a property was when you didn't have legal access.
All things considered, for the amount of ground worked (a few hundred yards), almost all of it by hand or with suction dredges, the 200 oz. I recovered seemed like a decent-enough haul. That would equate to a lot of money on today's market, but it wasn't worth much back when placer-mining was my trade. I knew small-scale miners who found so much gold working by hand methods it was almost unbelievable. Truth be told, I spent way too much time digging 'hungry dirt'. Nonetheless, even one's failures can be rewarding. It's gratifying being able to tell yourself at the end of the day "at least I tried". If there's one lesson about gold prospecting a guy who's been there might pass on, it's "go where the gold is, not where it isn't".
Here again, let me emphasize whatever degree of commercial success comes your way, be passionate about what you're doing and strive to become better at your trade. It's sad and surprising how many people choose to become 'loaf about the forts', defeatists, victims, and leaches. O.K. so in the beginning, you didn't have the same advantages others sometimes do. If you're not mature enough to understand that's the way of the world, hey, no one ever said life was fair! I say anyone can accomplish anything they set their minds to if they develop a consistently hard-worker attitude and stay positive. There's far too many people making 'negative waves' in the world today. I say if you play your cards right, a pair of deuces beats two pair any day.
