    NEVER BEFORE SEEN
    Original Photographs
THE BEATLES FINAL CONCERT at Candlestick Park
This is the only set of these 5.0" x 7.0" black and white photographs in existence
August 29, 1966.  Candlestick Park, San Francisco, CA.
    25,000 fans
    (not a sell-out)
braved the wind, cold, and fog off Candlestick Point to witness what everyone thought was the final concert of a long, controversial tour for The Beatles.  No one, except perhaps the Fab Four themselves, knew the historical significance of this event.  Playing through fences that looked like cages, their speakers were barely audible to the frenzied crowd.  11 songs and 30 minutes later, The Beatles were finished, never to perform officially in public again as a group.  As they left the field in an armored car, history was made.
These 38 photos are the only ones in existence.  They were taken by a newspaper photographer charged with capturing the whole essence of the concert, both audience and performers.  Thus, the photos are almost evenly divided between The Beatles (20) and the audience (18).  The photographer was allowed to get as close as anyone to The Beatles on the field.  They follow the evening from The Beatles walk into the stadium escorted by police, their performance, the hysterics of the crowd, and finally their departure via the armored car.  The 38 photos tell a story of an event that will always be a part of history.
Please note:  While this is the only set of these ever developed, this offering does NOT include the negatives.  The photos are printed with special permission of the University of California Berkeley Bancroft Library.
