If you're looking for out-of-the-ordinary specimens loaded with gold, check out this small pebble. The larger end shows considerable 'color'. Please note it's overall size and weight. My source says it's from California's Mother Lode. A minute amount of greenstone can be seen near the smaller end.
The rock hosting the gold is comprised of silicate minerals, chiefly quartz, with possibly calcite as well.
For those who've kept track of my store, you'll know I don't sell low-grade specimens. For one thing, if it shows gold, it can't be low grade ore.
I deal in authentic, naturally-occurring ores with visible gold. These high-grade beauties are hard to find and expensive to obtain. Prices aren't based upon the amount of gold contained, but upon the authenticity, rarity, and collectability of these unique pieces.

I poured through old mining dumps for years looking at orange-yellow-rusty rock through a loupe, but I never found a piece with visible gold.
Hydrothermal solutions carrying gold and silica crystallized into veins of gold quartz. This specimen comes from one of the many gold-bearing vein systems of California, The Golden State.

CHASING COLOR
Since the beginning,
I viewed my own past history chasing 'color' in the western U.S.
and British Columbia as extremely advantageous where this enterprise was concerned.
Seemingly, lots of gold dealers are dealers only,
either inexperienced at gold prospecting and mining, or unwilling to share their familiarity with the subject.
Past experiences in the field is how my
own Field of Dreams on Ebay twenty years ago came to be.
My travels and exploits lent insight
born from years of digging, slinging dirt, crawling around on hands and knees, cleaning bedrock, swinging a pickaxe, under-cutting banks,
chucking rocks, and freezing my
you know what off underwater in a myriad of craggy creek and river-bottoms.
Combined with these mining labors were years living in proximity with
and surrounded by snowbirds, fellow prospectors, rock-hounds, nature-lovers,
and assorted artist-types many of whom were following their
own elusive dreams whether it was jewelry-making or digging fossils, agates,
thunder eggs, gemstones, gold, silver, turquoise, or any one of a thousand different sought-after mineral collectibles. Many vendors dealt in
specialty wares, antiquities,
hand-crafted artwork, or beads. Maybe they sold imported goods gathered from around
the world. If you've not been to Quartzsite,
that's some of what you'll discover down in the sleepy, yet sometimes exciting Arizona outback.
I've really appreciated all my wonderful Ebay customers these past 20 years. So now you know a bit of who I am and how I came to be here. While mining for gold was the proverbial 'owl's hoot',
it's folks like you who make mining the miners almost as much fun as actually mining and 'finding gold in places where no one else thought to look.'
Thanks for checking out our digs.
